[Lunch seminar video] ICCEE, progress – Improving Cold Chain Energy Efficiency

In this IEECP Lunch Seminar you can hear about from the Horizon 2020-funded project ICCEE, especially its progress since the project start in September 2019 (a first lunch seminar introduced the project in 2019).

The transformation of the sector is key considering the importance of food and beverage in energy consumption and CO2 emissions and energy efficiency is one of the answers. Deger Saygin reminds the project complexity, with many different processes, and varying energy demand for different food products.

A survey and first interviews were conducted, resulting in 75% of the food sector participants (over 60 participants across Europe) saying that they see benefits besides lower energy bills when thinking about energy efficiency measures.

Now in development: LCA and LCC tools / model as well as an e-learning module. The first capacity building programme actions are planned. Stay tuned!

The project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement no. 847040.
