Next enefirst webinar: Putting Efficiency First into practice – insights from the US and the EU

Join enefirst March 2, from 4.00 to 5.15 pm CET and hear from the barriers which can hinder the implementation of Efficiency First as well as insights on how Efficiency First is or could be integrated in different policy areas and instruments. Two guest presentations will illustrate opportunities for Efficiency First, based on current developments related to the power system in California and in France.

Integrating the efficiency first principle in policymaking is a key requirement to meeting EU climate objectives and implementing the EU Green Deal. While there is still no common understanding as to how Efficiency first can and should be implemented, the concept is gaining momentum in the European political landscape: the European Commission plans to release a guidance to Member States on how to make the principle operational across the energy system and the built environment.

This webinar will provide early insights on how Efficiency First is or could be integrated in different policy areas and instruments. Speakers from RTE (Réseau de Transport d’Électricité) and CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission) will illustrate opportunities for Efficiency First, based on current developments related to the power system in California and in France.
